LEAD THE WAY âPatient Room of the Future: User-Oriented Innovation
The largest European open innovation consortium in the healthcare sector
Author: Wim Vanhaverbeke & Piet Verhoeve
This case study is perfect for MBA and executive education students diving into courses on innovation management, entrepreneurship, innovation ecosystems, change management, and leadership.
Introduction to the case: Back in 2014, the Patient Room of the Future (PRoF) stood as the biggest European open innovation consortium in healthcare. It started in 2009 when a group of healthcare suppliers teamed up, eventually rallying over 300 experts from various fields to brainstorm and shape the future of healthcare. PRoF's unique interdisciplinary approach led to four successful projects, but its future held many questions: How would PRoF continue to foster innovation and dynamism for its members and stakeholders? How would their projects scale up, and what resources would be necessary? What was the next step in the consortium's journey?
